The Edge at Cleveland State University

Fire Protection had the pleasure of working on a project at The Edge at Cleveland State University.

Harner Plumbing and Fire Protection embarked on a newly constructed, ground up, 11 story apartment building during the span of 2015-2017.  This project was better known as The Edge at Cleveland State University which is premium student housing located near CSU and Case Western.

While the scope of this project was large, consisting of multiple trades, the Project Managers, Job Foreman and field personnel of Harner Plumbing and Fire Protection handled it with professionalism and great efficiency.

Direct collaboration between all trades, material procurement, staff scheduling and completion timelines kept these companies moving.  At times there were as many as 30 plumbers on site during the height of this project, working on multiple floor levels to plumb 567 toilets, 220 kitchen sinks, 220 water heaters, a domestic booster pump and various other plumbing features that were needed.  Aquatherm piping and butt fusion which is a thermofusion welding process were two specialty techniques/products used while on site to accomplish the completion of this project.

Fire Protection supplied fire stopping mechanisms for piping, installation of main branch lines, sprinkler heads, the fire pump main and the alarm panel for the safety of future tenants of the building.

Special equipment/techniques used on site

Aquatherm – Butt fusion for the main water lines. The project also included heat involvement of scheduling, coordination with other trades, critical paths, material management.
